INDIANOLA - Coe outscored Simpson 8-4 over the final 2-1/2 minutes and stunned the Storm, 66-62, Saturday afternoon in Iowa Conference women's basketball.

Hannah Breitbach, Mickey Hansche and Mary Halvorson scored 14 points apiece to lead Coe (14-9, 9-3) to its eighth win in nine games. The Kohawks moved into a second-place tie with Simpson in the conference standings.

Morgan Terpstra scored 13 points to lead Simpson (14-9, 9-3). Whitney Van Wyk added 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Coe led by as many as nine points in the first half, but a 9-0 Simpson flurry to end the period tied the score at 31-31.

Another 9-0 run by the Storm turned a five-point deficit into a 55-51 lead with 7:34 to play.

Breitbach's three-point play with 3:43 to play gave Coe a 558-57 lead, but Simpson knotted the score on a Terpstra free throw with 2:46 left.

But the Kohawks finished strong.

Halvorson drained a jumper with 2:23 to play and Megan Hayes dropped in a layup with 1:30 left to give Coe a 62-58 lead.

Two free throws by Hansche with 28 seconds left built the margin to 64-58 and Breitbach's two free throws with one second left sealed the victory.

Coe shot 52.3 percent from the field, including a 57.1 percent mark on 3-pointers.
