Jaime Printy named Linn-Mar coach

Jaime Printy has made a quick jump to becoming the new head coach at her alma mater.

Linn-Mar High School announced Wednesday that Printy has been selected as the new girls basketball coach for the Lions, just a year after graduating from the University of Iowa and just five years after finishing her all-star career at Linn-Mar.

Printy, 23, replaces Michael Brandt, who resigned after 13 seasons with the Lions. Printy served as one of Brandt's assistant coaches this past season.

Printy was a first team all-state player for three years at Linn-Mar and also was the Gatorade Player of the Year in 2009. She then starred for the Iowa Hawkeyes, despite knee injuries.

Printy was a four-year letterwinner and starter for Iowa. She was named 2010 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and was a four-time All-Big Ten selection and three-time Academic All-Big Ten. She was also named to the Associated Press All-American team in 2011. She helped the Hawkeyes advance to the NCAA tournament all four years.

Printy graduated from the University of Iowa in May of 2013 with a degree in Recreation and Sports Business and currently is going back to school to get her education degree.

“We are very excited to have Jaime here at Linn-Mar," said Associate athletic Director Tonya Moe. “Jaime may not have the years of experience as a head coach, but she possesses every other quality we want here at Linn-Mar.

"She knows the game, is a tremendous role model and knows how to relate to kids. She will be a tremendous mentor to them and is extremely passionate about coaching. Jaime will work hard to make the Linn-Mar program very competitive as she is very level-headed and wise beyond her years.

“We are excited about the opportunities both for our women’s basketball program and our athletic department as a whole with the addition of Coach Printy to our staff.”
