Jefferson moved up one spot to No. 8 in the Class 4A softball poll released Monday by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

Xavier fell out of the rankings, but responded by sweeping a doubleheader from No. 12 and previously unbeaten Dubuque Hempstead.

Jefferson is the only ranked Metro team. The J-Hawks host Dubuque Senior on Tuesday, No. 5 Iowa City West on Wednesday and Linn-Mar on Thursday, before playing in the Jack North Classic in Des Moines on Friday and Saturday.
