Cougars fall to Ames in OT

The Ames Little Cyclones cashed 8 of 10 free throws in overtime Saturday night and trimmed Kennedy, 47-40, in a non-conference girls basketball game at Kennedy.

The game was tied, 39-39, after regulation. Neither team made a field goal in the extra four-minute session, but Ames outscored the Cougars 8-1 at the foul line.

Courtney Strait led Kennedy (5-9) with 13 points.

Shaya Kellogg topped Ames (10-5) with 13 points. Bianca Dufelmeier scored 12 points for the Little Cyclones and Mady Van Metre added 11.

AMES (47): Dufelmeier 4 2-2 12, Power 1 1-2 4, Kerns 0 0-0 0, Ray 0 0-0 0, Van Metre 4 3-3 11, Ballantine 0 0-0 0, Kellogg 4 5-7 13, Pritchard 1 4-4 7. Totals 14 15-18 47.
