Hanna picks Upper Iowa for basketball

Jace Hanna of Cedar Rapids Prairie committed to play basketball at Upper Iowa University Monday night, Prairie football coach Mike Morrissey said Tuesday.

Hanna is the starting quarterback for the Prairie football team as well as the point guard for the school's basketball team.

Hanna, 6-foot-1, averaged 9.5 points, 3 assists and 2 steals for the Hawks this past season as a junior. Prairie finished with a 9-13 record.

Hanna was named first team all-Metro and second team all-Mississippi Valley Conference in basketball for the 2011-12 campaign.

Upper Iowa University is an NCAA Division II school that competes in the Northern Sun Conference.
