Wash swimmers place third, win individual events

The Linn-Mar Lions won three events and placed second in the team standings Saturday at their regional swimming meet in Iowa City.

Lauren Dalecky won the 50 yard freestyle and the Lions captured the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.

The Washington Warriors finished third in the team standings at the Iowa City regional. McKenzie Asplund captured the 200 freestyle for Washington and Jackie Hughes won the 200 individual medley.

The Kennedy Cougars placed second at the regional in Clinton but did not have any regional champions in individual events or relays. Pleasant Valley won the regional title at Clinton.

Here are the state qualifiers for Kennedy, Linn-Mar and Washington and their seeds for the state meet at Marshalltown next Saturday. Jefferson did not qualify any individuals or relays for state.

 

KENNEDY STATE QUALIFIERS

9th - Hannah Botkin 50 freestyle

10th - 200 freestyle relay

13th - 200 medley relay

17th - Hannah Botkin 100 freestyle

17th - 400 freestyle relay

20th - Jessica Schmeiser 100 freestyle

21st - Sam Jacobson 200 freestyle

21st - Amanda Jacobsen 100 breaststroke

23rd - Jessica Schmeiser 200 freestyle

 

LINN-MAR STATE QUALIFIERS

7th - 200 medley relay

8th - 200 freestyle relay

11th - Lauren Dalecky 100 breaststroke

13th - Lauren Dalecky 50 freestyle

13th - Lizzie Adams 100 backstroke

18th - Lauren Reynolds 100 breaststroke

22nd - 400 freestyle relay

24th - Lizzie Adams 50 freestyle

 

WASHINGTON STATE QUALIFIERS

5th - Jackie Hughes 200 IM

13th - Jackie Hughes 500 freestyle

15th - 400 freestyle relay

17th - McKenzie Asplund 200 freestyle
