Marion High School senior Quinn Cannoy is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Cannoy caught three touchdown passes Friday night as the Indians defeated Anamosa, 58-0, on the road. They were the first three TDs of the game and helped Marion get off to a fast start.

Cannoy is a four-sport athlete for the Indians. He also participates in basketball, track and baseball.

Cannoy placed sixth in the 110 high hurdles at the Class 3A state track meet and ran the anchor on the shuttle hurdle relay team that took second.

Cannoy was named first team All-Wamac Conference in baseball as a utility player. He compiled a 5-2 record and 1.46 ERA as a pitcher and played left field.

MSR: What has been your favorite individual highlight in sports?

QUINN: Catching the game-winning touchdown pass in the first-round playoff game last year against Western Dubuque.

MSR: What has been your favorite team highlight in sports?

QUINN: Getting second in the shuttle hurdle relay this past year at the state track meet.

MSR: Who has had the biggest influence on your sports career?

QUINN: My parents have had the biggest influence on me in sports.

MSR: What are your future goals in sports?

QUINN: I plan to attend college (undecided where) and play football or basketball.

MSR: What are your favorite classes in school?

QUINN: My favorite classes in school are probably the biology classes.

MSR: What has been your favorite community service project?

QUINN: My favorite community service project is when my school does the "One Day In May" project where we go out and clean up the city, plant trees and make Marion look nicer than what it was before.
