Coe's Reuter, Woodruff earn honors

AJ Reuter and Maddison Woodruff of Coe received top honors from the Iowa Conference Monday.

Reuter was named the Athlete of the Week among Iowa Conference baseball players after going 11-for-19 as a batter for a .579 average and 2-0 with a 2.92 ERA as a pitcher as the Kohawks compiled a 4-2 record. He drove in 10 runs in those six games.

Woodruff was named the Iowa Conference Pitcher of the Week in softball after going 3-0 with three complete games and 35 strikeouts in 22.1 innings.

Five Coe athletes received special mention from the league with Melissa Alger (track and field), Erik Franklin (track and field), Noah Sprinkel (tennis), Nicole Gentile (softball) and Michael Golinski (baseball) all saluted.

Reuter goes 7-for-7 as Coe sweeps

AJ Reuter enjoyed a special day for the Coe College baseball team Sunday at Daniels Park in Cedar Rapids as the Kohawks swept an Iowa Conference doubleheader from Dubuque, 8-3 and 10-2.

Reuter went 7-for-7 in the twinbill with a home run and six RBIs. He also was the winning pitcher in the first game, raising his record to 4-1.

Reuter went 2-for-2 in the opener with two RBIs, then went 5-for-5 in the nightcap with his home run and four more RBIs.

Craig Konrardy went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs in the opener. Cal Kragenbrink was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and scored twice. Ben Larison also scored two runs.

Larison scored two more runs in the second game. Konrardy was 2-for-3 and scored twice. Colton Janssen was 2-for-4, and Andrew Brierton drove in two runs. Michael Golinski (2-1) pitched six scoreless innings for the Kohawks with 11 strikeouts and no walks.

Coe raised its records to 8-11 overall and 5-7 in the conference. Dubuque fell to 8-13 overall and 4-7 in the league.

Alberhasky tosses 3-hitter for Coe

Connor Alberhasky pitched a three-hit shutout Saturday as Coe College blanked the University of Dubuque, 3-0, in the first game of an Iowa Conference doubleheader at Daniels Park in Cedar Rapids.

Dubuque (8-11, 4-4) took the second game, 10-0, on a two-hitter by Josh Eastman.

Alberhasky (2-2) struck out six batters and walked two in the opener. Jory Heckenberg drove in two runs, and Michael Redmond went 2-for-3 for the Kohawks (6-11, 3-7).

Dubuque and Coe are scheduled for another twinbill Sunday at 1 p.m. at Daniels Park.

Reuter helps Coe split with BV

STORM LAKE —  AJ Reuter helped Coe win an Iowa Conference baseball game Tuesday with his arm and his bat.

Reuter pitched 5.1 strong innings and drove in three runs as the Kohawks topped Buena Vista, 5-2, in the first game of a doubleheader in Storm Lake.

Reuter allowed only one run on six hits for his third victory of the season. He went 2-for-3 as a batter with a double.

Ben Larison went 2-for-4 with a double and scored two runs for Coe in the opener. Brett Slager also scored twice. Jake Tickle finished the game for Reuter and collected his second save.

Buena Vista (14-4, 3-3) won the second game, 3-0. Colton Janssen went 3-for-4 for the Kohawks (5-10, 2-6)

Coe baseball team drops squeakers

WAVERLY - The Coe baseball team suffered a frustrating day in Waverly Sunday with a pair of one-run losses to the Wartburg Knights.

Wartburg won the first game, 2-1, in eight innings and captured the nightcap, 5-4. The Knights swept the four-game series.

Kyle Brady and Jake Tickle pitched well for the Kohawks in the first game, but Wartburg pushed a run across in the bottom of the eighth to prevail in extra innings.

Craig Konrardy went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs for Coe in the second game. Cole Tomlinson was 2-for-2.

Wartburg shortstop Ty Mougin, a freshman from Cedar Rapids Prairie, went 3-for-6 in the doubleheader.
